FM200 GAS EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS
FM200 fire suppression systems fight fire using HFC-227ea.
This extinguishing agent is particularly suitable for the protection of areas with electronic and electrical equipment and offers an economical fire protection solution especially for small and medium sized rooms.
Featureds
HFC-227ea extinguishing agent reduces the heat of the fire and thus stops the combustion reaction. It is also very efficient but not aggressive. The extinguishing agent is stored as a liquid, only turning into a gas when it exits the extinguishing nozzles. In this way, it extinguishes even hidden fire sources instantly.
HFC-227ea is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive, leaves no residue and can be easily removed from the area by ventilation. HFC-227ea is the fire extinguishing agent of choice for electronic and electrical risks as well as inert gases.
HFC-227ea has no health hazards at its design concentration, so FM200 installations are also suitable for areas with high human activity.
Single Zone Extinguishing System (Single-Zone System)
A single cylinder is usually sufficient to protect smaller rooms. Smoke detectors constantly monitor the extinguishing zone and in case of fire send a signal to the fire detection and extinguishing control panel. In single-cylinder systems, the control panel then opens the electric valve of the extinguishing agent cylinder to release the agent into the pipe. At the same time, the fire detection and extinguishing control panel triggers an audible and visual alarm, prompting those present to leave the room.
It also transmits a signal to a permanently manned station. After a predetermined warning period has expired, the extinguishing process begins: The extinguishing agent is transported through the piping to the extinguishing zone within 10 seconds.
Multi-Zone System
Multi-zone systems are very similar to single-chamber systems, but they must use a common stock of extinguishing agents to protect all rooms.
In the event of a fire, the fire detection and extinguishing control panel controls specific selector valves. These valves release the extinguishing agent only to the fire extinguishing zones affected by the fire. The required amount of extinguishing agent is always calculated according to the largest protected area. If a smaller area is affected by the fire, only as much extinguishing agent is released as is necessary to extinguish the fire in that area. Due to the reserve of the extinguishing agent, the extinguishing capacity of the system is guaranteed even after the fire extinguishing system is triggered, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
